In the year 1999 history was made when Bertrand Piccard made the first non-stop journey around the world in a hot air balloon. Eleven years later; Piccard is making history again as the Co-founder of the Eco-friendly Solar Impulse; which is a Switzerland led solar powered airplane development project. The recently debuted carbon fiber Solar Impulse airplane has officially ushered in a whole new Green era of cutting edge solar powering technologies. The energy efficient Solar Impulse airplane triumphantly glided into the Payerne airfield in Switzerland; making it the first airplane to ever complete a 24 hour non-stop flight; fueled only by the natural power of sunlight.
CEO and pilot Andre Borschberg performed the Eco-friendly Solar Impulse test flight; putting to action those advanced energy efficient solar technologies that he, Piccard and their team had developed. The advanced technologies designed into the Green Solar Impulse airplane needed to not only harness and convert the sun’s energy to sustain the airplane during its day-time flight; but also needed to incorporate high performance energy efficient batteries that would convert and store the extra solar energy needed to power its night-time flying hours.
It took seven years of planning for the team to develop the Eco-friendly Solar Impulse airplane. The solar powered airplane has the wingspan of a Boeing 777 (207 feet) and comes in at about the weight of a midsized car. The powered solar airplane is equip with 12,000 solar cells and was designed with a single seat cockpit.
Andre Borschberg, a former Switzerland fighter pilot, took off in the solar powered airplane equipped with an emergency parachute, the plane’s advanced Eco-friendly solar cell technology and a sophisticated energy efficient computerized monitoring system. He was able to effectively navigate the plane through thermal winds and turbulence; all the while enduring freezing night time temperatures. Andre Borschberg prevailed by completing the first successful flight of a fully solar powered airplane; lasting 24 consecutive airborne hours. The energy efficient Green aircraft was able to reach speeds of 75 mph and soared to heights of 28,000 feet. At the end of his Eco-friendly flight; Andre Borschberg brought the historic Solar Impulse airplane in for a graceful touchdown; effectively bringing home a perfect landing for this record-breaking solar plane Green legacy.
Hundreds of cheering Eco-friendly supporters awaited Andre Borschberg landing this cutting edge solar powered airplane; many of which helped to balance the Green airplane upon landing so that it did not tip and scratch up its wings. An unexpected success came from the recorded data that had the airplane ending its flight with more than 20 percent extra solar energy being collected than was originally expected. The onboard advanced computerized system monitored operations and optimized energy efficiency during the flight.
Andre Borschberg had this to say shortly after landing the energy efficient Solar Impulse solar powered airplane: “Everything went very well, it’s really unbelievable,” Andre Borschberg went on to say; “We demonstrated it is feasible to fly day and night; which means this technology can be used to save energy and to produce energy, and that’s exactly what we wanted to show.”
Some of the Solar Impulse airplane’s ongoing primary goals have been to develop advancing energy efficient technologies, develop renewable and sustainable Eco-friendly fueling sources and to build an aircraft designed to only use solar power; all of which is geared towards a successful Green flight around the world. Although this event was only a milestone in the grand scheme of things; the test flight of the Solar Impulse airplane has shown positive and successful possibilities for bringing that ambitious ultimate goal closer to a reality.
This groundbreaking Green technology and advanced design shows tremendous Eco-friendly potential for future sustainable and renewable air travel alternatives. It is with this revolutionizing cutting edge Solar Impulse airplane that we can now see, firsthand, the potential possibilities being inspired by the innovative challenges of transforming, storing and managing solar power. This further encourages the theories that it may indeed be possible for an airplane to fly indefinitely; powered only by energy efficient, sustainable and renewable solar energies.

I just read an article about England’s Miss Surrey, which featured pictures. I’m sure the young lady is a lovely person, and she is, indeed, a beautiful girl. However, she is overweight. Not obese- yet she is overweight enough that it could be unhealthy. Why is the media so obsessed with absolutes? French catwalk models, in any other nation or profession, are called “starving refugees”, yet Langerfield and co. throw these women at us as paragons of glamour. On the other end of this spectrum, we have significantly overweight people increasing the premiums on insurance coverage and the morbidly obese taking up more than one seat at the theatre or on the airplane, and we are told to be “sensitive” to their “disease”. Where is the middle ground, especially in entertainment? Why are we bombarded with the worst extremsim and brainwashed to these ideals? Where are the Sophias and Marilyns and the P.E. in schools? When did the entire world become so ridiculous?
Some people tend to go for extremes… middling is boring to their mindset…but I agree. It’s silly the way people just have this either/or mentality…either your a drug addled little stick figure OR you’re the overeating pig of the year. Just crazy.

When it comes to RC airplanes, there are a bewildering array of consumer options. For the beginner, making a good choice for that first plane can mean the difference between developing a lifelong enthusiasm for RC airplanes and getting frustrated early on and giving up on the hobby altogether. There are quite a few variables to consider before you purchase your first aircraft, two of the most important being whether to go with an electric or gas-powered and a Ready to Fly or Almost Ready to Fly model. Read on to learn which kinds are best for your interests, personality-type and pocketbook.
If you are new to RC airplanes, selecting an appropriate plane to start out with is very important to your early flying success and satisfaction. Trying to learn on a fast and hard-to-control model is not a good idea and could quickly turn you off on the hobby. Asking yourself a few simple questions will allow for an informed decision based on your interests and preferences, budget and ultimate goals, and ensure that you select a plane that is right for you.
RC airplanes powered by electric motors are popular with many beginners because they are quiet and don’t need nearly as much maintenance as gas models. I recommend electrics but also suggest you choose one that is not too fast or complex and has stable flying characteristics. Whether you should go with a Ready to Fly (RTF) or Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) model depends on how much time and energy you want to expend getting the aircraft ready to go and whether you are more interested in just flying or also in building your plane. Some enjoy working with their hands while others prefer that someone else handle the construction and assembly, so they can get on with the fun part of actually flying.
Unless you are very much the hands on kind, you can’t go wrong with Rtf Rc Airplanes. There is no construction involved and very little assembly–just put in the batteries, attach the wings and tail, and head to the flying field. If your primary interest lies in flying a RC plane, or you want to learn to fly first and build later, an RTF will get you in the air quickly with the least amount of effort. Do make sure there are plenty of spare parts available for your plane; if you need but can’t find them or they are never in stock, you are effectively grounded.
If you get as much pleasure out of putting things together as you think you will in flying, go with an ARF model. They come in varying forms of completeness but are more finished than not, usually leaving only the engine and radio for you to install, and possibly some fitting and assembly. Having to purchase the motor and radio separately can make ARF planes a bit more expensive than RTFs, but some retailers

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki today unveiled its flagship CNG engine technology, ‘intelligent-Gas Port Injection’ or i-GPI on five popular models. The CNG vehicles were unveiled by Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Environment and Forests in the presence of senior government dignitaries and Maruti Suzuki management team. The i-GPI or Intelligent Gas Port Injection bi-fuel technology offers an intelligent ride.
