I take it that you are talking about Radio Controlled Airplanes. I have built and flown so many in the past but lost my eye sight and health to where I can no longer build or fly any more. You are the one who determines how long it takes to become an average pilot. No two people are a like. My suggestion is that you locate a RC Flying Cub close to where you live and join the club. It is the easist place to learn and the safest place to fly. Hopefully your local club is set up to teach you on the buddy club method of using two radios. The more you go out to try to fly the quicker you learn. I highly suggest that you don’t attempt to fly on your own. You can cause alot of damage and possibly hurt someone including yourself if you don’t learn the proper methods of learning to fly. Good luck to you.

Rc Model Fun
i am playing the piccoz Z now. a small and rather fun to control RC heli. however, i think that it is time for me to move on to more serious models. i would like a full functioned RC heli that is both fun to play yet hard to break. would anyone recommend me a model?
RC helicopter are quite easy to break. Its nearly impossible to not break something when you crash it. I personally started out with the Picco Z helicopter and then moved to the E-Flite Blade CX(2 , 3) Helicopter. The 2 and 3 states there are 3 versions of it now. I would suggest the second one. Blade CX2. But that helicopter is good as a stepup. It has coaxial blades that make it easy to hover. Reason for that is when you let go of all controls, it should self center and not move in any direction. The helicopter is strong, and the things you’ll most likely break is the landing gear or the blades. So if you buy this, be prepared to stock up on spare parts.
After that, get the E-Flite Blade CP Pro 2. Its a step up from that helicopter. Once you learn the functions of the coaxial helicopter, its just learning how to balance and hover the pitched helicopters and then flying.

I am 16 and have had little experience with Rc Models. I really want to get one of those rc helis, not a nitro one but a pretty good electric one. How long would i have to practice? How hard is it? and is it worth it?
I got one from this guy my dad knew in China and he gave me a helicopter and it was very hard to this day. I couldnt get any help cause I cant read Chinese! So really it depends wich heli your talkin about.
I am a beginner flying RC Heli for the first time. Should I buy a nitro or an electric powered heli?

Rc Model Engineering
I want to teach my son how a gearbox works, and a differential and other aspects of motor engineering such as how suspension works etc. I figured we could build a model kit together, so long as it encompasses actually building these components. I have a budget of up to about £300 but I know nothing about the subject. Can anyone direct me to a suitable kit, or a website were I can research this, or a forum where I could get advice. Thanks in advance.
The best website to look at would be this one…

Most RC kits will have at least one diff at the front wheels (electric RC trucks are direct drive with the motor driving the back wheels directly, so no need for a rear diff), but the only RC kits to have gearboxes are monster trucks. Also, RTR (Ready To Run/Race) are more popular. Being Ready To Run means they are already built, but there are a lot of kits available. Almost all Tamiya RC’s are in kit form, and a lot of Tamiya kits are monster trucks so that would be good for you. And most of them are electric. The only nitro (the ones with the tiny engines) monster truck kit I know of is the HPI Savage X SS kit. That might JUST fall within your budget, although with that you might have to buy the engine separately.

Rc Airplane Canada
Some people across the lake from us, have been flying a rc plane. It can do loops and twirls and it looks really cool. How much would one of these cost? Where would the best (cheapest) place to buy it from?
I live in B.C. Canada. Thanks for your help.
